What is toll manufacturing?
Toll manufacturing in the adhesive business is usually an arrangement whereby one company provides the formulation for an adhesive and is then manufactured by another company. It's also important to note that, although contract manufacturing has some similarities to toll manufacturing, they are different. In contract manufacturing, the manufacturing company provides the materials as well, whereas in toll manufacturing the customer provides the necessary raw materials and / or semi-finished products. As a company, we provide both services to our customers.
Why do companies get involved in toll manufacturing?
Companies tend to opt for toll manufacturing for three reasons:
- It is an on-demand service
- It is cost effective
- It saves time
It is a great option for businesses that have the technical knowledge, but do not have the time, facilities, or flexibility in their production to manufacture a specific product themselves. Therefore, some businesses decide to have their product manufactured elsewhere. We work with both OMMs and OEMs who are looking to sell under their own brand to support their position in the market. This gives companies a broader portfolio of products and services to promote alongside their core business.
